After the February newsletter went to press, we learned that SPE Gulf Coast Section Vice Chair and Chair-Elect Robbin Jones, Mid-Con Energy Corp., has accepted a transfer with his employer to Tulsa. While we are pleased for Robbin to have this opportunity to return to his hometown, we’re sorry to see him leave! He has done so much for our Section, and we all thank him tremendously. We offer best wishes to Robbin and his family. We’re happy that we had already done our succession planning so we can fill his position. Roger Hite, Business Fundamentals Group, who has served since August 2005 as secretary of the Section assumed the position of vice chair and chair-elect in January. Allen Shook, Blackrock Energy Capital Ltd., who has previously served on the board as treasurer, assumed the position of secretary in January. Shook will also step into Hite’s position on the slate for next year’s officers. Ricky Pena, Anadarko Petroleum Corp., has assumed the role of community services director. At the January 19 board meeting, the SPE GCS board approved the following revised slate to serve on the 2006–07 board of directors. The slate was selected by the Nominating Committee, which received guidance from the Succession Planning Committee. Board of Directors Changes Allen Shook is a partner and executive vice president of BlackRock Energy Capital Ltd. He has served on the SPE GCS board as vice treasurer and treasurer. He also served as treasurer of the Northside Study Group and coordinated one of the SPE GCS High School Recruiting Fairs for several years. Shook has a BS degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas and an MBA degree from the University of Houston.
