PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

INDEPENDENT, Sr. Reservoir Engineering Consultant, Houston, Texas 2015 - Present

    • Supporting start-up companies with reservoir engineering and economic evaluation of acquisition opportunities in unconventional basins (Delaware, Permian, Eagle Ford, Woodford). Determined EUR with decline curve techniques. Performed single well economics with PhdWin and ARIES.

    • Analyzed large amount of well data and production databases (IHS Enerdeq, Drillinginfo). Investigated impact of well spacing, frac length, stage spacing, treatment fluid type, proppant quantities on well production and economic analysis. Used Tableau software.

    • Evaluated field development plans, reserves, economics: discounted cash flow, capex, opex, discount rates, LOE, basis differential, price deck, rig schedules, type curve inputs & economic limit. Assessed risk and upside potential.

    • Prepared engineering presentations for private investors and participated in technical Q&A sessions.

 

STATOIL, Project Leader/Petroleum Engineer, Houston, Texas 2007 to 2015

Led a multidisciplinary team of 8 people to oversee Statoil’s interest in a USD 11 billion join venture with Shell. Established strategy, goals, and high impact areas for influence. Prepared business plans, budgets for upper management.

  • Responsible for monitoring performance of Statoil’s investment in the Vito project. Led technical and economic evaluation of the project thru investment decision gates. Represented Statoil in partner’s meetings.

  • Increased project value by ~700 MMUSD by influencing the Operator to selecting EOR gas injection and selecting hydrocarbon gas as injectant over carbon dioxide and nitrogen. Reduced project break-even price by 30% by applying value engineering initiatives.

  • Performed integrated field studies to design development scenarios. Carried out reservoir engineering, risk analysis, economic evaluation to quantify exploration, appraisal investment and development costs (facilities and drilling).

  • Worked closely with subsurface teams to develop static and dynamic reservoir models. Reviewed geoscience, engineering and field data/analysis including PVT, SCAL, log and pressure transient analysis to build, update simulation models and generate production forecasts. Used PROSP, MBAL, GAP.

  • Carried out well performance analysis to assist in identification of wells for workovers, artificial lift design, chemical programs, well integrity, sand management, water management. Used Prosper Nodal analysis software.

  • Prepared annual CAPEX and OPEX budgets. Participated in development, coordination, consolidation, and completion of annual plan and mid-year business review processes.

  • Assisted with internal and SEC reserves reporting on annual basis. Provided technical support for Statoil reserve bookings. Knowledge of SEC/PRMS reserves guidelines (PDP, PDNP, PUD, etc.)

  • Supported business development initiatives for portfolio optimization (A&D) by coordinating technical teams to provide reserves and costs for sales case. Identified upsides potential. Organized data room preparation for 3 buyers.

  • Increased ownership in St.Malo asset by 6% by working on valuations and strategy to optimize Statoil’s portfolio.

  • Led Facilities Engineering Team to investigate various design options and associated costs and schedules to select a facilities concept for Stampede, USD 6 billion JV project operated by Hess. Key strategic focus decisions included: Stand-alone vs third party subsea tie-back options. Wet (semi, FPSO) vs dry host (TLP) options. Type of artificial lift systems (gas lift, downhole ESPs, subsea multi-phase booster pumps) and need for water injection. Selected facility was TLP with capacity for 80 kbopd, 120 mmscfd, 100 kbwpd water flood injection, 3500 psig gas lift wells. Subsea development includes 6 producers and 4 injectors tie back to facility. Start production in 2018.

  • Led Facilities Engineering Team to sanction Jack & St. Malo project, USD 10 billion JV project operated by Chevron in the Lower Tertiary trend GOM. Reviewed Operator documents and models including detailed engineering studies, project execution plans, basis of design, costs and schedule estimates, operating philosophies, PFD’s and P&IDs to design oil, gas, produced water handling for a co-development facility with capacity to process 170 kbopd, 42 mmscfd to develop Jack & St. Malo assets. Projected completed on time and under budget. Production started in 2014.

ADDITIONAL RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Occidental oil & Gas (OXY), Reservoir Engineer/Production Engineer, Lima, Peru

Evaluated production of wells, production declines. Generated long term reservoir and production management of two oil fields in the Jungle of Peru. Total production 25,000 barrels per day.

  • Monitored and analyzed well performance. Made recommendations to optimize production and identify production opportunities to maximize recovery and profitability.

  • Determined original oil in place and gas in place. Calculated remaining reserves using material balance and volumetrics methods.

  • Recommended collection of additional reservoir data, fluid sample analysis, pressure data to evaluate reservoirs.

  • In collaboration with geoscientists, completion/drilling engineers generated re-completion recommendations and prepared well programs. Supervised workovers, stimulations, completions and installations of artificial lift equipment.

  • Prepared procedures and AFE’s for well intervention activities such as production logging, artificial lift, well remediation, stimulation acid jobs, clean outs, etc. Interfaced with service companies.
