Sr Petroleum Engineer (Reservoir)

Description

Employs fit-for-purpose models, and reservoir management & surveillance skills to generate profitable opportunities to grow reserves. Strong knowledge of production operations in onshore & offshore international settings enables effective interfacing with field operations. Have worked as a business planner with operated and non-operated assets, including asset acquisitions & divestments with focus on economic evaluation.

Primary focus for past 10-yrs has been generating profitable opportunities to grow reserves by developing & stewarding reservoir management plans including reservoir surveillance and production optimization plans fully aligned with the field development & depletion strategies as well as identifying recovery enhancements with on-the-shelf completion and classical reservoir engineering & monitoring technologies.

Enthusiastic leader with good organizational and communication skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish with intermediate fluency in Portuguese.

Experience

ExxonMobil Corporation 1999 – 2015
Zakum Development Company 2015
Offshore Subsurface Engineer
Seconded to ZADCO Upper Zakum 750 kbd project (UZ-750). Offshore artificial Island & extended reach well (ERD) redevelopment of carbonate field Upper Zakum.
• Planned rigless well interventions in Offshore Artificial Islands under Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) environment. Identified the well handover process as a key area for cost reduction and increased efficiency for well interventions during SIMOPS. Savings 0.25 M$/well intervention.
• Wrote Well ZADCO Handover Manual ensuring documentation of well operating envelopes for initial ERD wells.

ExxonMobil Production 2013 – 2015
Reservoir & Subsurface Engineer
Support Exxon Neftegas Ltd (Sakhalin 1). Offshore & Onshore Artic oil development: Chayvo & Odoptu fields (world record ERD wells with sand control & zonal isolation with ICD & multilateral) & Arkutun Dagi field (Ice-resistant fixed platform with gravel packed intelligent wells) .
• First program of production tracers in XOM, realizing savings of 2.5M$ per well for a 20 well program and acquisition of reservoir information not possible with conventional production logs.
• Recommended completion for high fines & low strength formation resulting in addition of profitable drilling opportunities to develop ~260 MBO in place.
• Develop fit-for-purpose Netool models to describe fluid flow in complex long horizontal wells (zonal isolation with ICD’s). Knowledge incorporated to simulation models & transferred to younger team members through training sessions.
• Develop Integrated Production Model (facilities coupled with reservoir) to support XOM negotiating position with Rosneft for prioritizing XOM operated drillwells access to limited existing facilities.
• Reduced execution risks for extended reach well interventions by organizing systems integrity test for intervention tools, resulting in a successful world record plug setting (HEX) at 8750m.

ExxonMobil US Production 2010 – 2013
Reservoir Team Lead
Technical lead of reservoir management for Offshore Continental Shelf, California - Pescado, Sacate and Hondo reservoirs develop by 3 platforms (up to 1200 ft water depth) and onshore Texas gas plays
• Delivered world-class ERD wells in the Sacate Field (>$40M/well). • Provided functional expertise and mentoring for junior Engineers in engineering, opportunity generation and economic analysis.
• Provided quarterly reserves updates (SEC quality) to US Production Manager of OCS California & matured Texas gas plays.
• Generated & developed plans for workovers & large artificial lift programs including facilities debottlenecking in South & East Texas (Frio / Vicksburg & Cotton Valley / Haynesville shale)

Esso Angola Block 15 2007 – 2010
Kizomba Reservoir Engineer Lead
Reservoir surveillance & optimization of Modo & Saxi-Batuque offshore fields; 800-1100 meters water depth developed with 2 FPSO’s 105 kBD each & 36 subsea wells: producers, gas & water injectors.
• Extended the production plateau in both Kizomba C FPSO’s, by managing reservoir voidage while maintaining wells within well operability limits (WOL).
• Steward the reservoir management plan for Kizomba C, including development and execution of surveillance plans, developing capacity / production forecast & quarterly reserves updates.
• Build integrated production models to identify, implement and monitor capacity enhancement opportunities including facilities debottlenecking and artificial lift opportunities; resulting in maximization of subsea flowlines in Kizomba C and Marimba satellite development in Kizomba A.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers & technicians on reservoir surveillance & optimization, Integrated Production Modeling and economic analysis.

Esso Angola Block 15 2006 – 2007
External Business Planner
Managed the communications with Partners. Coordinated Work Plans & Budget and stewarded the integrated Block 15 Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) economic model.
• Manage Sonangol (Concessionaire) & Co-ventures interfaces and its sensitivities
• Update & maintain the integrated Block 15 (PSA) economic model and provide analysis such as crude entitlement outlook to affiliate and XOM corporation.
• Coordinated budget B-15 approval by consolidating & organizing the Operating Committee Meeting (OCM) and releases of information to the Government of Angola & Partners.
