In an effort to ease our way in to the launch of the new site,
we put together some info to communicate what new changes you will see
and how to navigate around the new site.

The login area is featured in the top right
section of the site. Clicking “Login” will display the fields to enter your
username and password. If you are already logged in, it will instead say “Hi,
[username]” and give you the option to log out. This will appear in the same
spot on every page.

If you have forgotten your password, you can go
to http://www.spegcs.org/en/users/forgotpassword.asp
to reset it.

Bookmarked links should be the same, there is
just a new way to get there. For example, to add a job the link is still http://www.spegcs.org/en/jobs/add.asp
but you can now get to it by clicking “Post a Job” on the homepage.

A new naming structure has been devised for
uploaded files of presentations to Study Group and Committee pages to help
eliminate some confusion. So for example, files would look like –
2009_01_PF&C
– Cesar Palagi Petrobas- Cascade Chinook Development.pdf
2009_03_PF&C
– Jo Pease- Ethics Presentation.pdf

Archived files will be in the documents section as
well, in zipped folders by year or as a whole if only a few files exist. An
archives page will also exist for each group to view archived files
individually and will be linked to from the specific SG/Comm page.

The “Featured Events” section will have
highlight upcoming events and link to registration. The event may show up in
the list next to it or it may spotlight an event further in the future.

The list of calendar events next to it pulls in
dynamically based on dates and there is a link above it to view the full
calendar.
