Tech Transfer: “Deep Space, Deep Ocean” Forum

Aramco is hosting a technology forum April 7-8, 2015 called “Deep Space, Deep Ocean: Exploring Crossover Technologies in the Space and Energy Sectors.” Both the aerospace and oil and gas industries operate at times in harsh, unexplored environments requiring unique solutions for safety and reliability.

The event will provide a platform for participants to go on a “deep dive” to analyze similar operational challenges between the two industries then set the stage to solve these challenges through technology collaboration. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) plans to participate in the forum, and is assisting with content development.

Several members of NASA’s executive leadership – both past and present – will be presenting along with CTOs, CEOs, VPs and others with Halliburton, ExxonMobil, Cameron, Dow Chemical, Draper Laboratory and more.  Leaders in innovation from UT Austin, Georgia Institute of Technology, Fiat, and The Methodist Hospital will also serve as presenters

Leaders across a range of industries will inform and inspire the audience during three general sessions throughout the two-day forum. They will take a bird’s eye look at both industries – specifically related to technological advances and challenges – and also provide their own winning strategies on how an organization can create a culture of innovation that leads to successful outcomes.

Five technical tracks, or Deep Dives, will analyze specific operational challenges and address next-generation technologies that are breaking new ground.
