PF&C Spring Series Session I: What you need to know about Attaining and Maintaining Accurate Fiscal and Allocation

Did you know that measurement accuracy decreases the nearer one gets to the well?  Hydrocarbons in the reservoir are very complex, highly miscible mixtures with uncertain physical properties and phase behavior at the pressures and temperatures along the flowpath.  They are often produced with water (also of unknown density) and solids. For this reason full well stream production is only measured occasionally and the accuracy is not where we need it to be for fiscal purposes. For high accuracy measurements with low uncertainty such as contract sales quality metering, we tend to separate and stabilize the phases.  Measurements for less rigorous use, eg. production allocation from well testing for reservoir models, need not be of such high certainty.

This presentation will provide an insight in to Shell best practices for selection of fit for purpose meters, and fit-for-purpose maintenance, operation and calibration employed to ensure that the minimum level of accuracy and data integrity is maintained over the life cycle of the field.

This session is scheduled as a one (1) hour presentation followed by a thirty (30) minute Q&A session. We fully expect a large turnout so please book early and we hope you make  attempts to attend all four (4) sessions. The PF&C Study group appreciates the support of our SPE GCS members and we look forward to seeing you there.
