SPEI Workshop: Southern Extension of the Eagle Ford Shale: A Cross-Border Collaboration

This two-day workshop is a collaboration with Southwest Texas and Mexico City sections to discuss new data indicating that the prolific Eagle Ford formation extends further south than originally thought. Considering the Eagle Ford does reach south, past the Rio Grande River and southern United States border, what are the consequences for the South Texas and Northern Mexico E&P markets?

Using case study presentations, this program will examine the most efficient approaches to identifying and developing fields in this formation. The program will focus on a variety of real world challenges, including:

  • How will the development of the Eagle Ford Shale formation be impacted by the potential opening of the Mexican E&P market to foreign investment?
  • Can technology advances proven in the “core” Eagle Ford Shale areas be utilized in far South Texas and Northern Mexico?
  • How will well placement and design, completion and stimulation design, water sourcing and disposal, and logistics affect the development?

The goal of the workshop is to draw speakers and attendees from across all of South Texas and Northern Mexico. Simultaneous translation will be available.
