A wellbore schematic is an informative and accurate representation of the downhole and surface components in a we ll. \; The potential impact of not knowing the accurate depths and dim ensions of well jewelry and exactly what is in a well can turn a minor wor kover into a major one. \; This can lead to additional rig time, costs , and lost production &ndash\; or worse, the loss of a producing well.
In a recent successfully completed project, the client had a need for a system of record (SOR) for wellbore schematics because engineers were ma king business decisions without being absolutely sure that they were using the most up-to-date information. Prior to this project, wellbore schemati cs were not created consistency resulting in schematics created in differe nt formats, with various levels of complexity, and stored in various locat ions. Additionally, it was during well completion that wellbore schematics were created without a process for updating the schematic due to workover s and routine maintenance. Without standards, consistent work processes, a nd an established SOR, these additions or changes were not captured.
< p>This particular solution leveraged Peloton&rsquo\;s Wellview as the SOR, developing an innovative system that automates the generation of accurate wellbore schematics using data within Wellview. This solution now allows the engineering community to be sure they are always looking at the most c urrent schematic with all relevant jewelry in the wellbore. In this presentation, we will review the project as well as specific issues, chal lenges, and lessons learned while implementing this solution. The standard s, processes, and templates developed for the solution will be described. We will discuss the flexibility that Wellview offers, as engineering needs and regulatory needs vary from company to company.
