Please join us for the launch event of the SPE-GCS Investment & Finance Initiative, created to open a dialogue between SPE members and the oil and gas investment community.  This will be the first of a series of meetings focused on investment in the oil & gas sector, from early stage to growth stage, and mature companies.  This launch event will feature partners from leading Oil & Gas on Growth Equity funds, who will discuss how to interact with the private equity/growth equity sector, trends in investment in growth equity, opportunities and challenges of working with private equity investors, and Q&A relating to investment in the energy sector.  All speakers actively invest in oilfield services (OFS) companies.

 

A cocktail reception will follow the event and is sponsored by our host Vinson & Elkins.

Moderator and SPE-GCS Investment & Finance Initiative Chair: Daniel Carter, Investment Director, Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures (SAEV).  SAEV is the strategic venture and growth equity arm of Saudi Aramco.

 

Greg Highberger, Managing Director, Lime Rock Partners. Lime Rock is a leading private equity fund focused exclusively on oil and gas and has raised over $7.4 billion over several funds. 

Jason Turowsky, Partner, Intervale Capital.   Intervale Capital is a leading private equity firm investing primarily in oilfield manufacturing and service companies. Intervale has raised $1.3 billion of committed capital and is currently investing from its third fund.

Saheb Sabharwal, Vice President, CSL Energy.  CSL Energy is an SEC registered private equity firm focused on small to mid-sized energy businesses in the U.S. and internationally.  Since its inception, the Firm has raised in excess of $1.4 billion across various investment vehicles.

Sean Ebert, Partner, Altira Group.  Altira has raised six funds, invested over $1 billion with partners in over 50 portfolio companies, and investors include Super Independents.

Daniel Carter is Investment Director at Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures US. Prior to his current role, Daniel was Principal at a venture capital fund in London from 2003-2012 focused on the energy sector with investors including Shell, KPC, Mitsubishi and Goldman Sachs. Prior to that, Daniel was Vice President at Citigroup/Salomon Smith Barney, where he was a co-founder of the Energy Technology practice, from 1996-2003 in Frankfurt, London, New York, and Melbourne. Prior to Citigroup, Daniel was with Heller Financial (Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi), now GE Capital.


Daniel earned two MBAs from Columbia Business School and London Business School, an MA from University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a BS degree from Georgetown University. He sits on the Board of the London Business School Energy Club and the Board of the London Business School Alumni Club of Houston.

Greg Highberger first joined the Lime Rock Partners team in July 2006 in the firm’s Westport office and is now a Managing Director in the firm’s Houston office. Prior to joining Lime Rock, Greg was an investment banking analyst in the Global Energy Group of Credit Suisse. He is a graduate of Boston College (B.S.) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A.).


Since joining the Lime Rock Partners team, Greg has played a critical role in investigating and executing oilfield service and E&P investment opportunities in North America and internationally. He currently serves on the board of directors of Capstone Natural Resources II, GEODynamics, SDI Gas, and Shelf Drilling. He previously served on the board of directors of Capstone Natural Resources, TAW Energy Services, and VEDCO Holdings. He also has been particularly involved in Lime Rock Partners’ investments in CrownRock Minerals, Iracore International, and Laricina Energy.

He joined Altira from Booz Allen, where he was a Principal in the energy practice focused on advising oil and gas companies and private equity firms on portfolio strategy, new business model development, and capital investment decisions. Prior to Booz Allen, Sean was the CEO of the energy technology related start-up company, Foresight Weather.
