Dr. David Pelton has been a professional communicator for over 45 years and has taught courses in communication and communication-related subjects for a number of national and international training/development organizations including PetroSkills, Energy Delta Institute (The Netherlands), The Learning Tree (Malaysia), Integrative Learning & Consulting, Ltd. (Singapore), and the Oxford Management Centre (UK/UAE), He is currently President of Pelton Communications and holds degrees from Cornell University, The New England Conservatory of Music, and the University of Cincinnati.  He has performed for – and spoken to – audiences in the United States, Central and Western Europe, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, The Ukraine, Africa, The Middle East, and Southeast Asia and has taught at major colleges and universities and been an active seminar/workshop trainer/facilitator for businesses in California, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia and in Angola, Canada, Australia, England, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Wales, the Czech and Slovak Republics, Benin, and Nigeria.  Today he is a member of numerous training institutes and societies and enjoys a national and international reputation as a communications consultant, lecturer, trainer, and coach.

Abstract

"How to be noticed and be taken seriously"

In this brief interactive lecture, you will be introduced to the basics of communication and learn what communication strategies and techniques to use to get people to pay attention to you and to project an image of confidence and competence.

All attendees are encouraged to register and pay online for this event. Walk-in's will be available for $30 per person.

Parking & Directions

Street parking is available on Louisiana Street and Smith Street for free after 6 pm. Please proceed to the main entrance of 1500 Louisiana Street Chevron building. The auditorium is located all the way to the left as you enter the building. If unsure, there are security personnel who can direct you to the auditorium.
