Description

Details/Agenda

This course provides participants with an introduction to theoretical and practical concepts in reservoir simulation technology. Course participants will learn about the fundamentals of reservoir simulation, its main components, and how they are used in the development of a simulation study. The course is divided into four parts:

1. Overview of reservoir modeling

2. Reservoir simulation equations

3. Reservoir simulation strategies

4. Simulation model QA/QC and model interrogation

Closing remarks will include discussion of the value of reservoir simulation, tools and workflows, and future trends.

Professional Development Hours

Attendees will be awarded with a certificate for 8 Professional Development Hours(PDH)

Jose Villa is a Senior Reservoir Engineer with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation since 2015. He has 18 years of experience working as a reservoir engineer and reservoir modeling and simulation specialist. He has actively participated in the development and deployment of reservoir simulation technologies during his professional career. He previously worked for PDVSA Intevep (Venezuela) and Shell International E&P (Houston, TX) and conducted a number of studies in onshore and offshore fields involving analytical and numerical simulation, history matching, well/field optimization, and integrated asset modeling. In addition to that, he prepared and taught classes in Applied Reservoir Simulation and Assisted History Matching to other colleagues at Shell worldwide. He holds two degrees in PE, a BS from Central University of Venezuela, and a MS from Stanford University. Jose Villa also volunteers for the SPE GCS Reservoir Study Group and has chaired several SPE workshops in history matching and dynamic reservoir response.
