Description

The SPE Members in Transition Seminar Series is designed to include a selection of topics of interest to SPE members who are transitioning in between jobs during the current industry downturn or who are looking for new career opportunities. 

The agenda for the sixteenth seminar in the series will include” Digital Trends & Opportunities in the Oilfield,” “Enhancing Your Skills During Booms and Busts”, "The Future of Analytics in Oil & Gas" and a “Discussion of Resources for SPE Members”.

Speaker #1 Bio: Alex Robart is an energy- and technology-focused entrepreneur and investor, with deep expertise in upstream oil and gas and the oilfield services and equipment value chain.  Together with his twin brother, he has launched, built, and sold two software, data, and research companies focused on upstream oil and gas.  He is the Managing Director of Unconventional Capital, an investment vehicle that has invested in multiple “digital oilfield” companies in the US and Canada. Mr. Robart has nearly 15 years of consulting and operating experience in oil and gas, energy, and a range of other industries. He and his partners built PacWest Consulting Partners into one of the premier consulting and market research/data firms focused on the oilfield services sector; PacWest was acquired by IHS in 2014.  He is also a co-founder of Digital H2O, a data and analytics software company that helps companies optimize oilfield water management; Digital H2O was acquired by Genscape in 2015. Mr. Robart has a B.S. from the University of Virginia in Systems Engineering and a M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Speaker #2 Bio; Bill Kemp is a Houston based Account Manager for PetroSkills. He is responsible for client interaction for workforce competency development and technical training in the oil and gas industry. Previously, Bill was manager, sales and marketing, for the Oilfield Technology Group of Hexion in Houston where he led commercialization of several innovative stimulation technologies during the "shale boom". Prior to joining Hexion, Bill had a consulting company specializing in oilfield market research and new technology commercialization.  Bill’s career includes numerous field engineering, sales, product marketing and business development positions at Halliburton. Bill has been active in SPE and served numerous roles at both the local and national level. Bill has a BSEE from the University of Texas at Austin.

As a Yield Engineer, she is skilled in Tibco Spotfire (Author certified), Matlab, JMP, and R.
