 ABSTRACT

This meeting is the annual joint meeting of the SPE-GCS General Meeting study group and the Houston Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute (API).  Two speakers will make presentations about oil and gas industry investment, development, and services industry in Southeast Asia.

Our program will have two exceptional speakers who will address a couple of very timely topics of primary interest to our Oil & Gas community.  Nurul Shams Rusli, Director - The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Houston, will present  “Making Malaysia the Asian Hub for Oil & Gas”.

Jonathan Yap, Center Director, Americas – Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), will present  Opportunities in Singapore for Marine & Offshore and Oil & Gas”, where we will learn about the oil and gas equipment and services sector in Singapore, which has enjoyed robust compounded annual growth of 10% since 2006, contributing over S$4 billion of manufacturing output in 2013.

With Singapore’s location in the heart of the Asia-Pacific, and its strong base of Science and Engineering capabilities, Singapore is well-positioned to support the growth of Marine & Offshore and Oil & Gas equipment and services companies in the region. Jonathan will be presenting more on the profile of companies and supplier capabilities that are available in Singapore, as well some new initiatives that they are working on to support the needs of companies that are growing in Asia Pacific.
