A one-day workshop was held June 8, 2010 in Houston that focused on “The Value of Real Time Data.” It was jointly sponsored by the Gulf Coast Section and the Real Time Optimization Technical Interest Group. In preparing for the workshop, we searched the OnePetro literature database for papers documenting the value of real time data. The goal was to find and document as many case studies as possible to provide quantitative data on the value actually realized from the use of real-time data. We also invited a number of speakers on the subject. Each of their presentations were documented in Podcasts, available on the Gulf Coast Section website. In addition, we polled the 150 workshop attendees on what challenges remain.
