Andrea Hersey Sales Analyst Momentive Specialty Chemicals' Oilfield Technology Group Andrea Hersey, YP Chair Andrea Hersey, a Sales Analyst for Momentive Specialty Chemicals' Oilfield Technology Group, is the prize winner for the Gulf Coast Region in SPE's 2011 Build the World of SPE Membership Recruitment Contest. Andrea recruited 8 SPE members during 2011, more than anyone else in the SPE Gulf Coast region, helping to push SPE past the 100,000 member milestone. For her membership recruiting efforts, Andrea received $500 and a letter of appreciation from 2012 SPE President Ganesh Thakur of Chevron. Jose Reinaldo Villa Reservoir Modeling Engineer Shell Global Solutions This month we would like to recognize Jose Reinaldo Villa, a dynamic reservoir modeling engineer at Shell Global Solutions, who serves as Program Chair of the Reservoir Study Group. He joined SPE in 2001, when he was a graduate student at Stanford University doing research on unconventional wells for his master's degree. He had graduated magna cum laude from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1997 as a BS Petroleum Engineer. After earning his Master's degree, Jose returned to his alma mater in Venezuela to teach reservoir engineering and applied geostatistics as a professor for four years. He then worked at PDVSA Intevep for ten years as a reservoir engineer, doing heavy oil simulation, offshore gas field development and implementing smart well technology. Steve Webb Account Manager Computer Modelling Group This month, the Gulf Coast Section would like to express our thanks to Dr. Stephen Webb, account manager at Computer Modelling Group, for being an active member of the Reservoir Study Group. Steve has also served on several Applied Technology Workshop committees, co-chaired an SPE Forum on Seismic for Reservoir Management, and was on the Program Committee for the SPE Digital Energy Conference last year. The scholarship applications are now accepted for 2012-2013 academic year. This year the application process for the SPE Gulf Coast Section Undergraduate Scholarship will be completed only online. The application is for $1,500/semester and all applications are due by February 13, 2012. Though the application is not due until February, it is important to familiarize yourself with the application process as soon as possible. A print-out of this document might be helpful. We are now accpetng photo submissions for a chance to be on the front cover of the SPE-GCS newsletter. Please send your submissions to Regina Eco at gcsnewsletter@spemail.org for consideration.

Rules for SPEGCS Photo Entries 2011:

Photo entry is open to all SPEGCS members. Only TWO entries per member. Photograph submissions will be accepted until September 30, 2011.
Photos must be related to the oil and gas industry.
Photographs must be in digital format and must have been taken from January 1, 2010 to May 30, 2011. Digital files must be between 1MB and 5MB with high resolution. No print submissions will be accepted.
Photographs must be an original from the SPEGCS member and must not have been used for any commercial or stock work.
Photographs will be selected through composition and quality.
Photos selected will be used for the front cover and proper credit will be given.
