contact our scholarship director Each year, the Gulf Coast Section and the Houston SPE Auxiliary award one-year renewable scholarships to outstanding high school seniors planning to major in engineering or science and wishing to pursue a career in the petroleum industry. To apply for the scholarship, a student must meet the following requirements: Plan to work in the petroleum industry Enroll in an engineering or science program at a university in the fall Currently be a high school senior Currently reside in Houston and 28-county Gulf Coast area Have a minimum SAT score of 1650 Be a U.S. citizen Scholarship Requirements Information that the SPE-GCS uses to evaluate the students includes the following: High school academic record Activities Awards and honors SAT score Reference letters Financial need Each applicant must also write a short essay and be interviewed by members of the Gulf...
