The challenge in our industry is to maximize value of assets using the fewest wells and the shortest time span. In the realm of completion design in unconventional reservoirs, using trial-and-error methods to answer questions regarding perforating, staging, or material selection can be somewhat counter-productive in this challenge.

In this presentation, a completion workflow for unconventional reservoirs will be outlined. A case history using data from the Barnett Shale will be presented. Lessons learned from this data set representing a time-span of years will be compared to conclusions that were developed in weeks using the proposed workflow.
