Event Description

The subsea industry has innovated, developed and matured over the last 30 years. Subsea equipment has been widely field proven although the next decade of field developments are likely to include much tougher conditions - longer tiebacks, deeper water, harsher environments and more remote locations.

Since purchase of VetcoGray in 2007, GE has invested heavily in subsea product development, service capability upgrades and technology migration to allow learnings from the wider GE portfolio to enhance it's already considerable subsea capabilities.

During this presentation, Manuel will outline how GE has merged new thinking with field proven reliability to critically improve and enhance subsea equipment for applications all across the globe.

Biography

Manuel Terranova is the Senior Vice President of the Subsea Product Platform and Commercial Operations for GE Oil & Gas, Drilling & Production. In this role, Manuel oversees GE’s subsea production equipment portfolio and all related commercial activity. The product lines include: subsea trees, manifolds, connection systems, control systems, flow assurance, subsea power distribution and subsea processing.

In his ten years with GE, Manuel has occupied a number of operational roles, including GM of Pipeline Integrity Services and CEO of PII. From April 2002 through March 2006, Manuel Terranova served as the GM and CIO for Information Management at GE Oil & Gas. During his tenure, he successfully deployed one of the largest process and system redesign efforts ever undertaken at GE.

From 1999 through March 2002, Terranova served as Manager of E-business strategy for GE's Corporate Initiatives Group. He co-invented and led GE's SupportCentral effort, which currently is the second-most used application in GE worldwide (MS Outlook is 1st).

Before joining General Electric, Terranova served as Internet Program Manager of the Xerox Internet Channel and Marketing Group (ICM) based out of Xerox PARC (Palo Alto, California). Manuel helped lead Xerox’s shift to a world-class web-based presence.

Manuel Terranova was born in Germany and raised in Italy; he has primarily resided in the United States since 1979. He graduated from Cornell University with degrees in German Literature and Political Science. At the Johns Hopkins School of International Studies (SAIS), he obtained a masters degree in International Economics and International Law.

Manuel speaks German, Italian and English and holds triple citizenship. He lives with his wife, Marzia and daughter, Isabella in Houston, Texas.
