Event Details:

The Drilling Systems Automation (DSA) Technical Section invites you to join us in a half-day meeting that will be held in conjunction with the IADC/SPE Drilling Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. This important event is scheduled for Monday, 1 February from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Level 2, Room 214 of the Morial Convention Center.

There is no charge to attend this meeting. However, due to limited seating, please reply to Shasta Stephenson at sstephenson@spe.org by Friday, 29 January if you plan to attend.

AGENDA

1.00 pm Opening Address by John Thorogood : safety moment ; info on future events this year; AGM at the end of the meeting, update from our sister IADC group; brief outline of the afternoon; introduce speakers

1.20 pm Panel Session with 6 speakers. Title: "Drilling Automation – Show Me the Value for Everyone!"

Moderator: John de Wardt, De Wardt and Company

Confirmed Panelists: Jeff Moss, ExxonMobil; Eric van Oort, Shell; Mark Mitchell, Weatherford; Gregers Kudsk, Maersk Contractors; Alan Orr, Helmerich and Payne; Frank Springett, NOV

Panelists will present 5 slides explaining their view of Business Value and a moderated debate with the panelists and audience will follow to articulate opportunities for the Business Case for Drilling Automation.

3.00 pm Open Floor Discussion on “Automation! Barriers and Drivers?”

Identify the barriers and drivers to a sound business case for Automation

4.30 pm AGM Approve new officers, thank prior officers; new chairman concludes

5.00 pm Close
